The UK’s Financial Reporting Council (FRC) has appointed Mike Suffield to executive director of audit and actuarial regulation, following the resignation of Melanie Hind.

Suffield first joined the FRC in 2016 as director of audit quality, following over 20 years at the National Audit Office – where he was lead director by 1995.

Before this, he qualified as a chartered accountant at Coopers & Lybrand – which is now part of PwC following a 1998 merger with Price Waterhouse.

Hind joined the FRC in 2012 as executive director, codes and standards, before becoming executive director of audit and actuarial regulation in 2016. She has left to take up a family opportunity overseas.
