The Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA) has announced the election of Edward Au as its new president.  

The HKICPA Council also elected Stephen Law, and Jasmine Lee as vice-presidents.  

Edward Au, a Fellow Certified Public Accountant practising, has been a council member since 2019 and served as vice-president from 2022 to 2024. 

He is the managing partner of Deloitte China Southern Region, focusing on developing practice in the Greater Bay Area.  

His experience includes auditing multinational corporations, public companies, and enterprises across Hong Kong, Singapore, the US, and China.  

He was a co-leader of Deloitte’s National Public Offering Group, specialising in listing and capital market matters and actively participates in various HKICPA committees and groups.

Currently, he is the chairman of the Registration Committee and has been involved with the Executive Committee, the HKICPA Charitable Trust, and the Nomination Committee.  

Edward Au said: “As the statutory licensing body for professional accountants in Hong Kong, we will proactively address the challenges and opportunities facing our profession. Building on the Institute’s strong foundation, we will continue to strengthen our profession’s capacity to navigate the evolving landscape of green finance, digital transformation and global interconnectedness, as well as cultivating accounting talent.

Law returns to the council after serving from 2010 to 2017 and was vice-president in 2024.  

Lee was first elected as a council member in 2022.  

Both vice-presidents will serve a one-year term alongside the president.  

Council elections occur every two years, with the recent election including these key leadership roles. 

The council also comprises four government-appointed lay members: AU King Lun, CHOI Heung Kwan, HO Shuk Ying, Sabrina, and NG Choi Yuk, Theresa.  

Additionally, the council includes two ex-officio members, Helen Tang, representing the Financial Secretary, and Accounting Services director Susanna Cheung.
