The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) has revealed the appointment of Tharindu Wijewardana as the new head of the institute in Sri Lanka where it is well represented.

In his new capacity, Wijewardana will lead CIMA’s efforts in the South Asian country, concentrating on the development of the finance sector.

CIMA Asia Pacific vice-president Venkkat Ramanan said: “We are proud to see Tharindu take on this role. His appointment shows our belief in developing and recognising internal talent.

“It is always encouraging when our own people step up and take on greater responsibility. Sri Lanka is an important market for us. As we mark 60 years of our presence in the country, this appointment reflects our ongoing commitment to the future.

“It is about building on a strong foundation and ensuring we remain relevant and forward-looking for the years ahead.”

Wijewardana‘s role will involve building partnerships with employers, educational institutions, regulatory bodies, and also government agencies.
