The South African Institute of Chartered
Accountants (SAICA), the South African High Commission to Lesotho
and the Lesotho Institute of Accountants (LIA) have joined forces
to boost the chartered accountancy profession in Lesotho.

The Memorandum of Understanding agreement will
see Lesotho students qualify to enter the Thuthuka Bursary
programme to study chartered accountancy in South Africa; the
promotion of the chartered accountancy profession in Lesotho and a
long term programme to increase capacity at the National University
of Lesotho.

The Thuthuka bursaries are worth RND80,000
each a year and cover university fees, the cost of textbooks,
accommodation in residence, meals and also feature extra classes,
mentoring, skills training, workplace readiness and other
non-academic support.
