The Public Company Accounting Oversight
Board’s (PCAOB) held its fourth annual International Auditor
Regulatory Institute last week, to highlight its programmes and
exchange views on global issues affecting the oversight of
auditors.
The Institute held seminars exploring the
structure of PCAOB auditor oversight programmes, internal
inspection considerations and current issues in enforcement and
standard setting.
It also included a panel discussion with
representatives from several of the PCAOB’s international
counterparts including Canada, Japan, Netherlands, Norway and the
UK to discuss issues related to auditor oversight worldwide.
A newly designed interactive session in which
PCAOB inspection leaders presented hypothetical inspection
scenarios and discussed relevant considerations, inspection
procedures and potential outcomes was also held.
Former vice president of Internal Audit at
WorldCom Cynthia Cooper also spoke about ethical leadership in the
21st century.
The Institute was held in Washington DC and
was attended by 75 representatives from auditor oversight bodies
and government agencies across 42 countries.
