The Institute of Chartered Accountants for
England and Wales (ICAEW) has elected Clive Parritt as its new
president.
Mark Spofforth was elected as deputy president
and Martyn Jones as vice president of the ICAEW.
Parritt said that during his term he will
place emphasis on strengthening links with the business community
to ensure businesses take full advantage of the expertise and
skills of UK chartered accountants.
An example of the strategy is the ICAEW’s
Business Advice Service, which will be rolled out across the UK
later this year. The new service will offer free accounting advice
to the SMEs community.
“I believe passionately that accountants are
not an add-on or optional extra, but lie at the heart of any
successful business. As ICAEW chartered accountants, we understand
business because we’re in business. We understand the downturn
because we’ve felt it too,” he said.
