The Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) in the UK has signed up to the UK HM Treasury’s Women in Finance Charter to encourage gender equality.
The Women in Finance Charter was introduced in March 2016 by HM Treasury to encourage firms to build on gender balance in financial services. Firms who join support the progression of women into senior roles in the executive and mid-tier level, among other ways to promote gender equality.
Baroness Neville-Rolfe, commercial secretary to the treasury, said: “I know how difficult it can be for a woman to get the recognition she deserves and achieve her potential, and in financial services particularly, women progress too slowly or leave completely. We have made a strong start by tackling sex inequality head on. The Women in Finance Charter offers the chance to increase diversity of thought and for the financial services sector to better reflect the society it serves.”
The AAT says it has 140,000 members worldwide, of which two thirds are women.
