The US Association of International Certified Professional Accountants (AICPA), which oversees the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), has appointed Kathy King as vice-president of communications & reputation.

The appointment became effective on 17 August 2026.

King will be based in Washington, DC, and will lead the association’s global communications and reputation work. Her responsibilities will include internal and external communications across markets and stakeholder groups.

She will also develop integrated communications strategies to support organisational priorities and protect the association’s global reputation.

King will report to AICPA president and CEO Mark Koziel.

She returns to the association after previously working as its senior director of reputation & external affairs. In that role, she contributed to the organisation’s engagement on issues affecting the accounting and finance profession.

King joins from the National Association of Corporate Directors, where she led communications and brand strategy.

Koziel said: “Kathy is a proven communications leader with deep experience in reputation management, executive communications, media relations and brand strategy.

“Her understanding of our organisation, the accounting and finance profession, and the stakeholders we serve make her exceptionally well positioned to lead our communications and reputation efforts during a period of significant transformation across business and the profession.”
