Alan Thomson has taken office as the president
of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS).
Thomson is chairman of thermal processing
services company Bodycote and piping systems producer Polypipe. He
is also senior independent director of chemicals company Johnson
Matthey and a non-executive director of French energy and transport
conglomerate Alstom in France.
Thomson has taken over from Douglas Nisbe who

At the recent ICAS annual general meeting,
Thomson suggested the profession should play a more proactive role
in providing solutions and demonstrating them in practice when it
comes to statutory audit.
