The National Association of State Boards of
Accountancy (NASBA) has appointed Ken Bishop as president and chief
executive of professional body, effective from next year.

Bishop is the NASBA’s chief operating officer
and executive vice president, responsible for the board’s business
and testing operations.

Bishop helped the body develop a uniform CPA
examination delivery model.

American Institute of Certified Public
Accountants chief executive Barry Melancon said Bishop was the
right choice for the role.

“Ken has been a critical partner in the
profession’s successful efforts to pass mobility legislation in 47
states and to ensure that there is a strong regulatory voice in
overseeing administration of the Uniform CPA Examination, as well
as driving the exam into the international marketplace.”

The appointment follows the retirement of
current president David Costello.
