James Kroeker has been appointed as vice chairman of the US Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), effective 1 September.

His term will last for just under five year, to June 2018, at which point he will be eligible for appointment to an additional term of five year.

Kroeker was the chief accountant for the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) between 2009 and 2012, following two years as deputy chief accountant, and was a partner at Deloitte before that.

Kroeker’s predecessor, Leslie Seidman, retired on 30 June 2013.
