The Federation of European Accountants
(Fédération des Experts comptables Européens – FEE), the Climate
Disclosure Standards Board, the Prince of Wales Accounting for
Sustainability Project and 13 accounting institutes from around the
world have all called for a global regime to measure, verify and
report on greenhouse gas emissions.
FEE said these processes will be instrumental
in controlling greenhouse gas emissions even if there is a
successful outcome at the Copenhagen climate change summit this
month.
Accountants have contributed to existing
frameworks for the reporting on a range of sustainability measures,
including the control of greenhouse gas emissions, FEE said, adding
that a clear, consistent and authoritative reporting framework
still needs to be developed.
