The International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC), the CDP (formerly known as the Carbon Disclosure Project) and the Climate Disclosure Standards Board have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

In a statement the signing parties said the MoU said aims at deepening their cooperation as carbon reporting "is integral to integrated reporting (<IR>) and a key pillar on which <IR> is based."

IIRC chief executive Paul Druckman said <IR> does not intend "to supplant other non-financial disclosures, but to utilise these disclosures, through the application of the principles of <IR>."

CDP chief executive Paul Simpson said the MoU is a "natural step" for both organisations "as we work to catalyse the adoption of this data into mainstream filings."
