ICAS appoints former Ernst & Young tax
partner

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of
Scotland (ICAS) has appointed Elspeth Orcharton as assistant
director of taxation.

Orcharton is to head the corporate and
international tax sectors on a part-time basis and will be involved
in developing policy areas, including UK competitiveness and the
simplification agenda.

Orcharton has worked within the tax industry
for 15 years. She has worked at Ernst & Young, leading their
Scottish transaction tax team and public sector tax practice, and
has held a number of roles within ICAS tax committees.

ICAS director of taxation Derek Allen said
Orcharton’s strong track record will further strengthen the
institute’s offering to members and help influence the tax
landscape.
