The Institute of Chartered Accountants in
England and Wales (ICAEW) and the Institute of Certified Public
Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) have signed an agreement that enables
qualified ICPAK members to apply for ICAEW membership, and vice
versa.
To gain ICAEW membership, members of the
Kenyan institute must meet certain requirements, such as passing
ICAEW’s advanced stage examinations and attaining work experience
with an ICAEW training employer.
ICAEW members can apply for ICPAK membership
once they have passed Kenya Accountants and Secretaries National
Board tax and law papers.
“This [agreement] will further strengthen the
relationship between ICAEW and ICPAK. Removing barriers for
professional accountants to work across markets is important as
globalisation increases,” ICAEW president Clive Parritt said.
