The International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board’s (IAASB) has appointed Linda de Beer as chairman of its Consultative Advisory Group (CAG).
De Beer’s role involves supplying leadership direction to the CAG, overseeing the group’s objectives and liaising with the Public Interest Oversight Board and the IAASB.
The three-year appointment is effective next month and she will succeed present chairman David Damant.
De Beer is an independent financial reporting and corporate governance adviser and a representative of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. She also serves as an independent non-executive director on the boards of Afgri Holding and Royal Bafokeng Platinum.
De Beer is a member of the Committee for Auditing Standards of the Independent Regulatory Board for Auditors in South Africa and the King Committee on Corporate Governance.
International Federation of Accountants chief executive officer Ian Ball said: “Linda brings a wealth of expertise to her current role as a member of the IAASB CAG. I’m extremely pleased that she has been appointed as independent chairman and I know that under her leadership the IAASB CAG will continue to make a highly effective contribution to audit standard setting. The IAASB is a developing body of audit and assurance standards.
