CPA Australia, the Institute of Chartered
Accountants in Australia and the National Institute of Accountants
have developed a free online training tool for self-managed
superannuation funds (SMSF).

The accounting bodies say the Self-Managed
Superannuation Fund Trustee Education Program is the first of its
kind.

The tool will allow trustees to
understand:

  • The roles and responsibilities of a trustee
    of an SMSF;
  • Investment restrictions imposed on trustees
    of an SMSF;
  • Rules and limitations surrounding
    contributions and benefit payments within an SMSF; and
  • The administration involved in an SMSF.
