The UK Financial Reporting Council has
appointed a new director of actuarial standards and Financial
Reporting Review Panel (FRRP) deputy chair.

Paul Kennedy succeeds Louise Pryor as director
of the Board for Actuarial Standards while Joanna Osborne has been
appointed deputy chair of the FRRP. Both will take up their
positions on 1 June.

Kennedy, who is a qualified actuary,
accountant and barrister, is currently head of actuarial oversight
at the FRC. Prior to joining the FRC, he held various actuarial and
managerial positions in the private sector.

He was also a former head of the legislation
team at the Financial Services Authority, where he oversaw the
Financial Ombudsman Service and the Financial Services Compensation
Scheme.

Osborne was previously a partner at KPMG. She
has extensive technical knowledge of global financial reporting,
audit and business issues and was a member of KPMG’s International
Financial Reporting Group from 2001 to 2003.
