The Financial Reporting Council (FRC) has
appointed John Kellas as interim chairman of the Professional
Oversight Board (POB).

Kellas is the former chief of the
International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB) and
his appointment follows the sudden death of Barbara Mills, POB’s
chair since 2008.

FRC chairman Baroness Hogg said Kelllas will
be a strong and independent advocate of audit quality.

“His international perspective will be hugely
valuable to us as we respond to current regulatory proposals, in
particular the European Commission’s audit green paper”, Hogg
added.
