The UK Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT)
has launched a new branch for chartered tax advisers (CTAs) within
the civil services.

The branch will be based in HM Revenue and
Customs (HMRC), which employs 106 CTAs, making it the eighth
largest CTA employer in the country.

Speaking at the launch of the chapter, CIOT
president Andrew Hubbard said CTAs within HMRC have particular
requirements, such as specialised training, that are not being met
by the existing branch network.

“This new branch will fill that gap,” Hubbard
said.

The HMRC branch with be CIOT’s 36th
branch and will be chaired by Alexandra Galloway.
