The Chartered Institute of Management
Accountants (CIMA) has elected George Glass as its new
president.
Glass, an FCMA, is financial director of the
UCM Timber Group and responsible for all aspects of the group’s
financial and information systems.
A member of the CIMA’s council since 2000,
Glass chaired the technical committee from 2005 to 2007 and more
recently chaired the project board overseeing the creation of
CIMA’s 2010 syllabus.
He also represented the UK and CIMA on the IT
committee of the International Federation of Accountants
(IFAC).
Glass was elected at the CIMA annual general
meeting on 5 June 2010.
“At a time when economic recovery is still
looking precarious in many regions of the world, and with urgent
threats to the environment, CIMA members have never been so key to
driving the global economy forwards,” he said.
Other honorary officers elected at CIMA’s AGM
were Harold Baird as deputy president and Gulzari Babber as vice
president.
