The UK Chartered Institute of Management
Accountants (CIMA) has elected Harold Baird as its new
president.

Baird has been involved with CIMA since he was
elected to its council in 2001 to represent Northern Ireland.

Baird was the chairman of CIMA members’
services committee from 2007 to 2009 and has also served on CIMA’s
executive, international development and lifelong learning
committees.

“I am keen to further enhance the institute’s
relevance and reputation by forging strong partnerships and working
relationships both within the institute and externally. It has
truly never been a better time to be a management accountant,”
Baird said.

CIMA has also elected Gulzari Babber as deputy
president and Malcolm Furber as vice president.

Babber runs his own accountancy and taxation
practice in London and Furber, who has his own consultancy, has
been a member of CIMA’s council for 13 years.

They will all serve year-long terms.
