The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) has launched a degree in applied accounting, which will begin in June.

The standard two-stage degree programme will span a three year period and aims to "create employable graduates with the required skills, competencies and industry knowledge to fulfill a successful accounting career."

The degree is the first of its kind in Sri Lanka and is available to both students and professionals.

The University Grants Commission has approved the course, and has already received a large number of applicants.
