Brazilian companies dominated the 2010 Global
Reporting Initiative (GRI) Readers’ Choice Awards for
sustainability reporting, taking out all six awards.

Brazilian bank Banco do Brasil claimed the
best overall title by scoring the highest average score across all
the award categories.

Banco do Brasil also won the best report as
judged by the investor community and the best award as judged by
internal stakeholders.

The other winners were:

  • Mining company Vale won the best report as
    judged by civil society;
  • Cosmetic company Natura Cosmeticos won the
    best report as judged by its own value chain; and,
  •  Private bank Banco Bradesco won the
    most effective report award.

More than 3,600 readers in 55 countries
participated in the scoring process, marking 1,100 reports from 60
countries.

GRI Readers Choice Awards ceremony was held at
the Amsterdam Global Conference on Sustainability and Transparency
on 27 May.
