Belinda Gibson has been appointed deputy
chairman and Shane Tregillis appointed commissioner of the
Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC).
Gibson joined ASIC as a commissioner in 2007
with responsibility for corporate governance and capital
markets.
Tregillis was previously the deputy managing
director of market conduct at the Monetary Authority of Singapore.
He was also a member of ASIC’s national executive between 1995 and
2001.
“Gibson and Tregillis both have long
experience in corporate regulation and securities and will ensure
the commission has the depth and the background to deal with our
increasing responsibilities, including market supervision and
consumer credit,” ASIC chairman Tony D’Aloisio said.
