The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) has expanded its regulatory board with three new appointments.

Jane Fowler, Marina Gibbs and Julie Hendry have joined the ICAEW Regulatory Board (IRB) for an initial three‑year term, starting this July.

Fowler is an ICAEW chartered accountant with more than 30 years’ experience in senior governance, audit and regulatory roles.

She has worked at companies including BDO and Aquila Advisory, and has been involved in audit oversight, auditor independence, risk controls and ethical standards.

Gibbs is a senior executive and non‑executive with more than 25 years’ experience in regulation, strategy and organisational change.

Her background spans working in communications, technology, professional services and charities. She spent 18 years at Ofcom, where she most recently served as policy director.

Gibbs said: “I am delighted to join the ICAEW Regulatory Board as a Lay Member. ICAEW’s mission to protect the public interest and uphold the profession’s reputation aligns strongly with my long-standing commitment to advancing the public interest.”

Hendry is a technology and digital transformation specialist with more than three decades of international experience.

She has worked extensively with governance and regulatory frameworks across public and private bodies.

Her work includes drafting the UK Cabinet Office governance framework for agile service delivery, later rolled out across government.

“Their breadth of experience across regulation, governance, technology and professional services will further strengthen the board’s work in overseeing ICAEW’s regulatory and disciplinary functions.

The IRB is responsible for overseeing the ICAEW’s regulatory and disciplinary activities to ensure they operate in the public interest and underpin confidence in the profession.

Last month, Elizabeth Hambley was appointed to the ICAEW board as an independent non-executive member for a three-year term.
