As part of the event, the HKICPA confirmed a formal partnership with the university’s School of Accountancy.
Under this collaboration, four undergraduate programmes – Accounting, Accounting (CICPA), Financial Management and Financial Management (CIMA Track) – have been granted accreditation by the HKICPA.
The recognition enables students on these programmes to follow a more direct route into the institute’s Qualification Programme (QP).
According to the HKICPA, eligible students will be able to obtain exemptions from certain QP modules, benefit from reduced examination fees and register for the QP earlier than usual.
During the ceremony, HKICPA CEO and registrar Arthur Lee handed over accreditation certificates to representatives of ZUEL, signalling the start of the cooperation on the accredited programmes.
Lee said: “HKICPA’s QP is widely recognised in major international capital markets.
“HKICPA holds mutual membership recognition agreements or mutual examination papers exemption agreements with 11 accounting bodies in Chinese mainland and overseas.
“These strategic partnerships unlock domestic and international career opportunities for our members, while elevating their professional value.”
Alongside the accreditation ceremony, the HKICPA ran a briefing session on campus to outline QP examination arrangements and registration-related incentives for students on the accredited degrees.
Chen Shenglan, Academic Dean of the School of Accountancy at ZUEL, said: “The successful accreditation of our four undergraduate programmes by HKICPA marks a significant achievement in the school’s efforts to advance its international education initiatives and deepen the integration of our curriculum with global professional accreditation systems.”
The HKICPA has been running accredited programme collaborations with universities on the Chinese mainland since 2009, building a network of institutional partners during that period.
Last month, the HKICPA and the International Federation of Accountants co-hosted the HKICPA x IFAC PAIB Conference in Hong Kong.
