Sarah Rapson, the Executive Director of Supervision at the Financial Reporting Council (FRC), has been appointed as the new CEO of the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA).
Rapson will leave her current role at the FRC to take up the new position later this year.
She has been with the FRC since 2021, where she has been instrumental in enhancing the organisation’s supervisory capabilities.
Rapson also served as Deputy CEO prior to the arrival of Richard Moriarty.
The FRC has initiated a public recruitment process to find her successor.
FRC CEO Richard Moriarty said: “While I am sorry to see Sarah leave the FRC, this is an excellent appointment for both Sarah and the SRA.

Earlier in June 2025, the FRC announced an overhaul of the UK Stewardship Code, with the updated version set to be effective on 1 January 2026.
The revised UK Stewardship Code 2026 aims to promote long-term sustainable value creation for clients and beneficiaries while reducing the reporting burden for its nearly 300 signatories, who manage approximately £50trn ($68.5trn) in assets.
In April 2025, FRC unveiled its annual review of structured digital reporting, indicating improvements in basic reporting practices among UK-listed companies. The review identified several errors in previous assessments in 2022 and 2023 have been addressed.
