The initiative is backed by sponsorship from Standard Bank, CBS and the Chartered Accountants (SA) Medical Aid Fund (CAMAF).

According to SAICA, it is intended to strengthen connection, support and development among trainee accountants in South Africa and internationally.

The accounting body said the programme responds to pressures linked to professional training, board examinations and workplace demands.

It is designed to bridge traditional divides between companies and regions by giving trainees access to mentorship circles, wellness programmes, networking events and leadership development activities.

SAICA said the collective aims to create a space where trainees can support each other, build resilience and deal with the challenges of their professional journeys together.

Through the platform, trainees will be able to connect with peers across companies, sectors and regions.

They will also have access to mentorship and peer-support circles, as well as wellness and resilience programmes.

The initiative includes leadership and personal development opportunities, alongside a collaborative platform for engagement with other future professionals in the sector.

SAICA CEO Patricia Stock said: “The SAICA Trainee Collective represents a new approach to professional community-building, one that recognises that success is strengthened through collaboration, mentorship and networking by sharing experiences with shared purpose.”

SAICA said regional launch events drew strong participation from trainees in the Northern, Southern and Eastern regions.

The launch forms part of SAICA’s broader youth empowerment efforts as the organisation marks 50 Years of Impact.

The campaign also aims to mobilise support for Thuthuka, SAICA’s transformation and social impact initiative.

SAICA said that Thuthuka continues to help aspiring chartered accountants from disadvantaged backgrounds through funding, mentorship and academic support.
