The South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) has appointed Mohammed Humayun Kabir, Fellow Chartered Accountant, as its president for 2026.
Probin Kumar Jha has been named vice-president for the same year.

Kabir previously served as president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh and brings more than 45 years of experience across accounting, finance, business and industry.
Kabir began his professional career at a chartered accountancy firm in February 1981.
He later worked at a financial institution until June 1988, before moving into senior positions in business and industry.
In 2010, Kabir received the Poribesh Padak (environment award) from Bangladesh’s Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.

By GlobalDataFrom March 2012 to June 2025, he served as a facilitator of Alternative Dispute Resolution at Bangladesh’s National Board of Revenue.
Kabir has also held roles in business bodies, including serving as an elected director of the Bangladesh-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry between 2021 and 2023.
He was involved with the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry from 1996 to 2024 in advisory and committee leadership capacities.
Vice-president designate Jha represents the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nepal.
SAFA is the regional professional body for accountancy in South Asia, bringing together 11 chartered accountancy and cost and management accountancy institutes.
It represents more than 500,000 members in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, and operates as a network partner of The International Federation of Accountants (IFAC).
Last month, IFAC selected Mahbub Ahmed Siddique as a member of its Professional Accountancy Organization Development & Advisory Group (PAODAG) for the 2026-2028 term.
The appointment from Bangladesh came after a multi-stage global selection process by the IFAC Nominating Committee.
