The US’ Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) chair Erica Williams has appointed Kent Bonham as director of the office of Communications and Engagement (OCE), effective immediately.
Bonham has led the office in an acting capacity since April 2022 and will continue to oversee the PCAOB’s external and internal communications, government affairs, and outreach to investors and other stakeholders.
Bonham joined the PCAOB in 2007 and has earned roles of increasing responsibility related to the organisation’s communications and outreach.
Before becoming acting director of the OCE, Bonham was the office’s deputy director, overseeing the PCAOB’s relations with the U.S. Congress, as well as various federal and state government agencies.
Williams said: “Meaningful engagement with our stakeholders is critical to informing the PCAOB’s work to protect investors. Kent’s deep experience and proven dedication to our investor-protection mission will be invaluable as he leads the PCAOB’s work to strengthen our communications and engagement efforts.”
Commenting on his appointment, Bonham said: “Each day, the people of the PCAOB work hard to strengthen U.S. capital markets for the benefit of investors, and it’s been an honour to help share that story with policymakers and other key stakeholders over the years. I look forward to enhancing our organisation’s communications and engagement as we carry out our mission and the Board’s vision.”
