Nigeria’s Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) is looking to foster voluntary tax compliance among small businesses and startups, as well as informal sector operators
The initiative is part of the 2025 Tax Clinic, aiming to strengthen tax education and compliance across Nigeria’s economic sectors, according to local media reports.
The focus is on transparency and inclusion in the tax system.
FIRS executive chairman Zacch Adedeji highlighted the importance of expanding Nigeria’s tax base and empowering citizens and businesses to fulfil their civic duties.
“The clinic reflects our commitment to promoting a culture of voluntary compliance by bringing tax education closer to the people. It is a critical step in strengthening trust, transparency, and inclusion in the tax system,” Adedeji was quoted by local news outlet Vanguard as saying.
The Tax Clinic, organised by the FIRS Emerging Taxpayers’ Group, will feature expert-led sessions, panel discussions, and interactive forums on tax filing, business registration, and dispute resolution.
