The Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA) has joined Chartered Accountants Worldwide as its first associate member, making it the first professional body to join the organisation since it was created in 2013.

Chartered Accountant Worldwide was created by five professional bodies from Europe, Africa and Asia-Pacific to develop and promote the role that chartered accountants (CAs) play throughout the global economy.

ISCA joins the founding members of Chartered Accountants Worldwide: Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland, South African Institute of Chartered Accountants, Chartered Accountants Ireland and CA Australia and New Zealand.

For the past few years, Singapore is on a mission to become the accountancy hub of South East Asia and as such it has recently launched a national CA qualification program. Joining Chartered Accountant Worldwide fits into Singapore’s strategy to gain international recognition for its qualification program and professionals.

ISCA president Gerard Ee said: "By being part of the globally-recognised Chartered Accountants Worldwide, we aim to add value to our members, bringing Singapore accountants greater career mobility and professional visibility in an increasingly globalised business environment."
