The Institute of Certified Public Accountants
of Rwanda (ICPAR) has launched its own accounting professional
course.
ICAPR said its Certified Public Accountants of
Rwanda (CPA-R) and the Certified Accounting Technicians of Rwanda
(CAT-R) qualification are benchmarked against international
standards and put an end to local accountants and auditors having
to qualify abroad.
According to media reports on the continent,
Rwanda’s accounting professionals previously had to obtain their
license in Kenya or Uganda, which has led to a shortage of auditors
in the country.
ICPAR is said to currently have 214 registered
professional accountants in the country, of which only 55 are
Rwandan.
