Eddy Wymeersch has been appointed chairman of
the Public Interest Oversight Board (PIOB), the international
oversight body of the International Federation of Accountants
(IFAC).
Wymeersch succeeds Stavros Thomadakis, who
helped set up the oversight body in 2005.
Wymeersch has been a chair of several
oversight bodies and has most recently chaired the Committee of
European Securities regulators (CESR)
New members appointed by the PIOB are current
vice president and controller of the International Bank for
Reconstruction and Development Charles McDonough, PwC Australia
managing partner Robert Ward, and the former chairman of the
Securities and Exchange Board of India Chandrashekhar Bhaskar
Bhave.
