Ian Carruthers has been appointed chair of the International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board, effective 1 January 2016, for a three-year mandate.
Carruthers was nominated by the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy, where he serves as executive director of policy and standards.
Previously he worked for PwC’s public sector practice; and in 1999 he joined the UK Treasury where he was involved in the transition from cash to accrual budgeting and reporting, undergone in the UK Government’s accounting system.

Richard Murphy has been appointed professor of practice in international political economy at City University London.
Murphy is considered to be the architect of Corbynomics, the economic proposals of the UK opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn.
The position is a part-time appointment which involves researching and teaching a module called economics of the real world.
Murphy is a chartered accountant and economist. He is also one of the founders of the Tax Justice Network.
