The IFRS Foundation has appointed Nili Shah as its executive technical director, effective in October 2017.

Previously Shah was deputy chief accountant of the division of corporation finance of the USA Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). She also worked for PwC in the UK and the USA between 1996 and 2004.

The UK Financial Reporting Council (FRC) has appointed Mary Cleary and John Hitchins to its audit and assurance council and conduct committee respectively.

Cleary is a fellow at the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland and has been a partner with PwC Ireland since 2005, where she currently leads the audit methodology group.

Hitchins has been a member to the corporate reporting review committee including the deputy chair of the Financial Reporting Review Panel (FRRP) since 2016. He retired from PwC where he was a partner in 2014. He specialised in bank auditing and advisory services and currently is the chair of the audit committee at Aldermore Group PlC.

President Trump appointed Hester Maria Peirce as a commissioner of SEC.

Peirce works as a senior research fellow and director of the financial markets working group at the Mercatus Centre at George Mason University. Formerly, she served on USA senator Richard Shelby’s staff on the senate committee on banking, housing, and urban affairs. Prior to that, Peirce served for eight years as a staff attorney in the SEC division of investment management and as a counsel to Commissioner Paul Atkins.
