The Malta Institute of Accountants (MIA) and
the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW)
have entered into a joint agreement to help develop the Maltese
accountancy profession.

The agreement will offer 1,800 Maltese
qualified accountants, who are MIA members, access to the latest
technical services and work on regulatory issues from the ICAEW, as
well as provide them access to its online resources.

“ICAEW and MIA share a common vision to invest
in and develop the accountancy profession to promote sustainable
growth and inspire business confidence. Collaboration on technical
matters is something both institutes can benefit from.”

ICAEW vice president Martyn Jones said.

The pair will also hold joint events as part
of the agreement and their first one was held last week on the
European Commission’s legislative proposals and the effect they
would have on Maltese companies.
