Gerard Ee Hock Kim has been elected as president of the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA).
Kim was a partner at EY until 2005, and previously served as ISCA’s vice-president and chairman of the investigation committee between 2009 and 2011.
He has replaced Ernest Kan, who stepped down from the ISCA’s Council after five years in the role. During this time, the institute’s membership rose from 20,500 to 28,000.
Kim said Kan had positioned the Institute in good stead in evolving it into a globally recognised body.
"We will build upon this firm foundation while continuing to innovate to meet the needs of a growing membership base," he added.
Kim has also been joined by R. Dhinakaran and Ho Tuck Chuen, who have been re-elected as vice-president and treasurer, respectively.
The elections followed the ISCA’s 2013/2014 AGM, where eight other council members were also elected.
