Indian institute appointed vice chair of the Asian standard setters group

By Stephanie Wix

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has been appointed vice chair of the Asian-Oceanian Standard-Setters Group (AOSSG) for a period of two years, effective November 2017.

The ICAI will be represented by the chairman of its Accounting Standards Board (ASB) Shiwaji Bhikaji Zaware.

Current chair of the AOSSG, PwC Consulting Korea senior partner Eui-Hyung Kim, succeeded Jee In Jang in March 2017 as chair and CEO of the Korea Accounting Standards Board (KASB), as Jang retired on 28 February. Kim’s term will expire in November 2017.

The chair and vice chair are supported by an advisory committee of eight member jurisdictions and working groups on particular technical topics. As per current convention, the vice-chair subsequently assumes the chairmanship for two years upon confirmation by members.
