The International Federation of Accountants
(IFAC) has for the first time called on the interested public to
nominate members of its board and committees for the 2013 term.
IFAC said that this change is there to ensure
a transparent approach to filling available positions and achieve
gender, regional, professional diversity.
The changes also arise from the Monitoring
Group’s 2010 effectiveness review of IFAC.
Prior to expending the nominations to the
public only IFAC member bodies and the Forum of Firms were able to
nominate.
“We aim to attract a wide variety of
high-quality nominations, to ensure that we have a rich pool from
which to find the right candidate for each position,” IFAC
president Göran Tidström said.
IFAC said all applications should be submitted
before 15 March 2012.
