The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Government’s Department of Posts (DoP) to support its changeover from cash-based accounting to accrual-based accounting.

As part of the agreement ICAI will help organise training programmes on accrual basis of accounting for the DoP postal accounts offices of all 22 circles on a pan-India basis.

ICAI said the first two programmes in the series have been held in Jaipur and Bangalore.

DoP is part of India’s Ministry of Communication and Information Technology.
