The Institute of Chartered Accountants in
England and Wales (ICAEW) has appointed Peter Beynon as regional
director for the Middle East region.
Beynon’s new role will see him supporting
institute members in the region, as well as developing the
accountancy profession in the UAE. He will work with the government
of the UAE on projects such as improving professional education and
partnering the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) for
discussions on regulatory issues.
He said he was “looking forward to helping
support the government’s Emiratisation initiative. Building a pool
of qualified, talented young people is going to be fundamental to
encouraging Emiratis into rewarding careers in the private
sector.”
Beynon will join the Institute’s Dubai office
from HBG holdings, where he was an operating director for MENA and
South Asia, and before that he was managing director at Al Fahim
Group; the first non-family member to hold the position. He
originally qualified with PwC.
