After more than 10 years as International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) chief executive, Ian Ball has stepped down from the position.
However, Ball will continue to work for IFAC in a voluntary capacity as a principle advisor, and will represent the organisation as a member of the board and as chair of the Working Group of the International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC).
During his tenure, Ball was a recipient of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy’s President’s Medal, the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants’ Life Membership distinction, and was also named a "Top 10 Influencer" in jointly by The Accountant and sister publication the International Accounting Bulletin.
Ball described his time leading IFAC as a "privilege".
"As integrated reporting receives more and more attention and the IIRC continues to make significant progress, I am looking forward to focusing on these new endeavours and working with the IIRC and IFAC," he said.
Former World Bank executive Fayezul Choudbury has now officially assumed the role of IFAC chief executive.
