The International Accounting Education Standards Board (IAESB)
has identified areas of focus to help strengthen the accounting
education curriculum and harness the latest technology in its
effort.

At the United Nations Accountancy
Education Forum conference, the IAESB discussed the topic of
education with 30 leaders from the Pr
ofessional Accountancy
Organization (PAO).

Key points addressed were:

  • Updating the United Nations Conference on
Trade and Development model accounting curriculum and the
International Education Standards (IESs), to meet the challenges of
delivering accountancy education in France speaking parts of Africa
and other parts of the world,
  • Revising the suite of IESs to enable better
understanding by PAOs of their obligations in the development of
    competent professional accountants,
  •  Developing additional guidance on the
implementation of the IESs while facilitating their use as a set of
global benchmarks for the development and delivery of professional
    accountancy education, and
  •  Exploring new opportunities for
harnessing the latest technology and providing accountancy
    education programs in innovative ways.

The IAESB is part of the International
Federation of Accountants.
