The Hong Kong Financial Reporting Council (FRC) has appointed eight council members.
Teresa Ma Ka-ming; John Estmond Strickland; and Roger Thomas Best have all been appointed for a term of two years while Nicholas Robert Sallnow-Smith; Sin Chung-kai; David Peter Robert Stannard; Connie Lau Yin-hing; and, Chew Fook-aun have been appointed for three year terms. All will begin their posts on 1 December.
The Hong Kong Financial Reporting Council (FRC) is an independent statutory body established in December 2006 to investigate possible auditing and reporting irregularities as well as to enquire into possible non-compliances with accounting requirements.
"We are confident the newly appointed members will work closely with the chairman John Poon, and other members to meet the new challenges and enhance the quality of financial reporting and Hong Kong’s position as an international financial centre," FRC financial services secretary K C Chan said.
