Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) has appointed FRC chief executive Stephen Haddrill as the new independent chair of its global regulatory board.

The board oversees the regulatory framework for more than 120,000 chartered surveyors globally. Its regulation function is independently-led since 2006 and Haddrill is neither a RICS member nor a chartered surveyor, which according to the board demonstrates commitment to unbiased monitoring.

Effective 1 September, Haddrill will be taking over from Eve Salomon, who is stepping down after six years in the role.
