The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and The Italian Alliance for Sustainable Development (ASviS) have signed a memorandum of understanding to start a partnership promoting corporate social responsibility in relation to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
ASvis was created to raise awareness of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. They have connected 200 institutions and networks to carry out the SDGs.
GRI’s chief executive Tim Mohin said: “We look forward to collaborating more closely with ASviS as we work together on our shared interests, helping Italian enterprises improve their transparency and continue to achieve progress in making Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development a reality.”
ASviS spokesman Enrico Giovannini said: "The SDGs are essential to guarantee the corporate social responsibility of the private sector. The SDGs set out that companies should include sustainability information in their annual reports and provide inputs to shape companies’ strategies in the medium and long term. In this way, it is possible to transform current challenges into opportunities.”
The two organisations plan to guide companies to adopt approaches that contribute to sustainable development and promote responsible business practices.
