GRI has appointed its former interim CEO Eric Hespenheide, a former Deloitte partner, as the chairman of the GRI board of directors, effective 1 January 2018.

Prior to this appointment, Hespenheide was GRI interim CEO where he led the roll-out of the GRI Sustainability Reporting Standards.

Hespenheide has previously served as the chairman of the GRI Global Sustainability Standards Board as well as the chair for the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants Sustainability Assurance and Advisory Task Force and a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors Global Advocacy Committee.
