Anton Colella has been elected chair of the
Global Accounting Alliance (GAA).

Colella, who is currently the chief executive
of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS),
succeeds Kevin Dancey to take up the two-year non-executive
position from November.

Colella said it is a “great honour” to be
appointed chair of the GAA especially during such an “interesting
and pivotal time for the accountancy profession”. He added the
GAA’s 10 membership bodies will continue to collaborate closely on
the key international issues that surround the accountancy
profession at this time.

The GAA operates in about 165 countries and
represents more than 775,000 accountants globally.
